Who we are
North West EPCs is operated by Ian Kay, a sole trader based at 4 Grange Avenue, Latchford, Warrington, WA4 1PN. We provide Energy Performance Certificate assessments for domestic and commercial properties across the North West.

What data we collect
When you book an EPC or contact us, we collect:
- Contact details – name, email address, phone number
- Property details – address and postcode of the property being assessed
- Payment information – processed securely by Stripe (we don’t store card details)
- Assessment data – information gathered during the EPC survey for lodging on the government register
How we use your data
We use your information to:
- Arrange and carry out your EPC assessment
- Contact you about your booking
- Process payments
- Lodge your EPC on the official government register (required by law)
- Send your certificate and invoice
- Respond to enquiries
We don’t use your data for marketing unless you’ve specifically opted in. We don’t sell or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
Legal basis for processing
We process your data on the following grounds:
- Contract – to fulfil the EPC service you’ve booked
- Legal obligation – to lodge EPCs on the government register as required by law
- Legitimate interests – to respond to enquiries and improve our services
Third parties
We share data with:
- Stripe – for secure payment processing
- Elmhurst Energy – our accreditation body, for lodging EPCs on the government register
- Google Analytics – for anonymous website usage statistics
- Email providers – to send booking confirmations and certificates
These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by data protection agreements.
Data retention
We keep your booking and contact information for 6 years after the service date for accounting and legal purposes. EPC data lodged on the government register is retained according to government policy (EPCs are valid for 10 years and remain on the register after expiry).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (where we don’t have a legal obligation to keep it)
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
